About the Book and Author

Carlos Castaneda was an undergraduate student in the department of anthropology at the University of California-Los Angeles when he began writing about his spiritual search with a Yacqui Shaman named don Juan Matus. He ultimately received his B.A. and Ph.D. degrees based largely on the discoveries surrounding his journey.

Carlos Cesar Arana Castaneda was born on December 25, 1925 in Cajamarca, Peru. He moved to the U. S. A. and became a naturalized citizen in 1957. While still a UCLA undergrad, he met don Juan Matus in northern Mexico and began his quest for spiritual knowledge after the style of Yacqui shamans and under the influence of peyote.

He kept an account of his experiences, that became the foundation for his seminal work which, in turn, sparked great interest in mesoAmerican religions as well as the use of peyote, particularly among white college students in the United States. Yes, I spent my time with the crows in Ixtlan, but I came along later and did not keep a record of any literary consequence. I post this torrent because I have it in digital form. However, it cannot be understood alone. You will be led astray regarding his discoveries if you do not follow through with the next two
books: "A Separate Reality" and ""Journey to Ixtlan."

Audio Literature

In 1968, with the publication of Carlos Castaneda's The Teachings of Don Juan, the spiritual search was revealed to be as incredibly exciting as any death-defying adventure which human beings may be drawn to undertake.

As the years have passed, Dr. Castaneda has come to be seen as an anthropologist of the soul, showing us that the inner world has its own inaccessible mountains, forbidding deserts and awesomely beautiful dangers which we are all called to confront.

Listen - and - marvel - as Coyote and Castaneda draw us into a breathtaking world of magical reality and ultimate truth.

"Coyote makes us listen to Don Juan's vision with fresh ears; he enlivens this mystical search with a sense of mystery and poetry." ... Listener's Guide to Audio Books
