No, the Wright Brothers, Orville and Wilbur, did not invent the Airplane...

Were not the first to pilot a heavier than air flying machine...

But they were the first to invent controls that made flight practical....

The ability to fly heavier than air fixed wing crafts had been around for awhile, and the flying part was easy....

But, to set DOWN exactly where you wanted to, the ability to steer accurately, to increase or decrease POWER...The Wright Brothers helped usher in all that...

It all began for them when their Father brought home a french toy called a HELICOPTER, which they played with until it fell apart, then REBUILT better...

They stepped into the pages of history at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, Dec 17, 1903, with the first successful controlled, powered and sustained heavier-than-air flight...
