CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE

CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE

The man on the LEFT is Henry David Thoreau, and from the look on his face you'd think that he wrote the BOOK on Civil Disobedience....

Oh, Wait...

HE DID!

"MORAL OPPOSITION to an UNJUST STATE."

Simply that. No need for VIOLENCE, Mohandas Gandhi and Martin Luther King, DISCIPLES of Thoreau, PROVED that.

"Be not merely GOOD, be good for SOMETHING."

We have the RIGHT to Civilly Disobey.

We have the right to demonstrate peaceably...

We have a right to speak up when we KNOW things are WRONG, WRONG WRONG....

These rights are in our CONSTITUTION, which has been under constant attack and erosion since the days of NIXON....

We are LOSING the battle, Folks....

Painting ourselves into a CORNER, as it were....

We need to all get BACK out there and flex our vocal muscles before it is too late, and REVOLUTION rears it's proud, HARD head....

Thoreau wrote a book concerning Civil Disobedience and had it published in May, 1849....

Thoreau was a TAX RESISTER, Historian, Philosopher, Educator, Naturalist, Engineer, Surveyor, Author, Poet, Abolitionist,

This man did NOT sit around on his ass bemoaning the state of his existence...

He got out of the HOUSE and DID THINGS....

He knew what he wanted, and that was for GOVERNMENT to get off our backs and so that we could all get to know each other WITHOUT the paranoia and suspicion Governments need in order to control and FLOURISH...

"It is as HARD to see one's SELF as it is to look BACKWARDS without turning around..."

What a CLEAR thinker...

Just look into those EYES...

Every PEACEFUL demonstration that has helped to change the world, from Gandhi and his peaceful opposition to the Salt Tax in INDIA, to King and his opposition to Segregation in Alabama, to the current plight of the Dalai Lama in Tibet, all found their inspiration, genesis and modus operandi from Thoreau's "Civil Disobedience".
