CRUITHNE: Earth's Second Moon

CRUITHNE: Earth's Second Moon

FIVE miles in diameter...

Locked in Orbital resonance with Earth...

It is usually between 9 and 14 million miles away from Earth...

It spins and CORKSCREWS about the Earth as we circle the Sun in tandem...

But NASA is quick to point out that it cannot be a MOON.

WHY NOT?

It is not much smaller than Deimos or PHOBOS, the MOONS of MARS.

CRUITHNE is in a Elliptical orbit around the sun. It is ONE day ahead of the Earth, completing it's orbit in just 364 days...

And it is nothing NEW.

It has been there LONGER than there has been MAN on earth, possibly. We can NEVER know...

There are SEVERAL asteroid/satellites orbiting the earth, but, due to their small sizes, can only be seen with powerful telescopes...IF you know where they are located....

It is believed that in several million years, EARTH will catch up to Cruithne and the folk of that time will be in for some trouble.

It is hard to CARE about such an event....
