SOMETHING IN THE WAY SHE'S LAYLA

SOMETHING IN THE WAY SHE'S LAYLA

Description:

Those of you whom have seen "A HARD DAYS NIGHT", that terrific Beatles film, will remember the scene:

The boys retreat to the storage area of the train and strike up a tune....

There are a couple of "birds" hanging on to the wire mesh cage...

One of those lovelies is THIS lovely...

Patti Boyd
Patti Boyd Harrison
Patti Boyd Clapton.

Poor George took one look at her and was instantly head over heels....

Whirlwind romance.
Marriage.
Pressure from fame.....

Patti has stated that George would alternate between MYSTICISM/RELIGION to all night PARTYING, hanging out with pals, going wild....

One night, HIGH on L.S.D., George told Patti that he was in love with Ringo's wife....!

Patti had been getting these INTENSE love letters from George's "pal" Eric Clapton, and she became intrigued...

He invited her down to a studio that he was recording his new project in and played her this tune, over and over again, called "LAYLA". She knew instantly that it was about her...

She feared that anyone else who heard it would also know.

George had already written "Something", and everyone, to this day, thinks the song was written for her.

Not true, according to George Harrison.

George says he was given inspiration by a James Taylor tune called "Something in the Way She Moves". George worked on the song, on and off, for a few months, imagining, the whole while, Ray Charles singing it...

Eric Clapton did in fact write "LAYLA" with Patti in mind, and he ardently pursued her, leading to the break-up of George and Patti, and the beginning of Patti Boyd CLAPTON...

To this day, Patti Boyd REGRETS marrying Clapton, as she later found that he was a raging, angry ALCOHOLIC...

To this day, her one regret is that she did not stay married to George...

Patti Boyd has a SISTER that is just as, if not MORE, BEAUTIFUL as she...I think she is married to Mick Fleetwood...
