Poetic, very clever, inspired by Apollo Secret Tapes (Apollo 19 etc..) so retro, so dramatic. Author careful chose "authentic" looking details in combination with real footage (telescope earlier real space mission cuts) to give us pleasure to see man on the Mars (but there are n man, just cards - notes, counting trppin' days). What for? So much effort, so many wasted hours, but whole in whole just another empty prank.

@Nedroj
not saying that this is real but if you're looking at the earth and the moon from any given distance the ratio and distance between them would differ depending on the position of the moon at the time during its orbit. i.e. if the moon was at the far side of the earth then it would look smaller and closer to earth than at other times etc
You're assuming that the central point of the moon is the exact same distance away from the camera as the earths.
It's all about perspective my friend :) -

William.B.Rutledge (of Belgian descent), wasn't he also involved in the Apollo 20 Mission? Is this coincidence?

The discussion on possible missions to Mars came from the original idea from Von Braun to build up a more powerful version of the Saturn V third stage with 5 engines to enable Trans Martian Injection and Trans Earth Injection flight operations.

I believe this was identified years ago as discarded footage from a hollywood flop.

If the earth were 7 cm in diameter then the moon would be 2 cm in diameter. And the distance between them would be 2.2 meters. It does not look to be such a distance between them in the film (:
