The government of Assad is coming to an end. He can't salvage anything of his personal rule. He will not be head of government across all of Syria. That is not possible. But I think the removal of government in Syria leads to the question of who governs? What ethnic group is dominant? Or is it conceivable to create a sort of balance between the various ethnic groups like in Lebanon? That I think is the most likely outcome....that Assad's government will collapse but Assad was the front for the Alawite domination of Syria. 13% in a country of majority of Sunni, but also Kurds, Christians, and most of the minorities are leaning to the Alawites. They're afraid of the Sunni.
