Over 200 international nuclear researchers, scientists, diplomats and experts exchanged the latest information on global security of nuclear energy during the 2012 Moscow Nonproliferation conference. Iran's nuclear program was at the top of the discussions list.
In his keynote speech, Mr Dolatyar spoke of little progress in the Iranian nuclear dossier. The US and allies say Iran is attempting to develop nuclear weapons but Tehran insists its atomic programme is for peaceful energy purposes.
Israel has been criticized for being the only nuclear entity waging a war in the region. Yet the UN has failed to address this issue. Based on the reports, Israel possesses hundreds of nuclear warheads. Speakers at the conference talked about establishment of a zone, free of nuclear and all other weapons of mass destruction, in the Middle East.
The conference is organized by the Center for Energy and Security studies in Moscow. And the next meeting will take place in two years' time.
