A truly impressive 5-min infographic movie about the roots of the Middle-East conflict, the goal is to show that education & learning may also have a cool look. this new look often reminds the viewer more of a TV music video than that of a matter-of-fact history lesson.

Although it is factually incorrect.

- Romans were there before 135 AD (!)

- Palestine was the name given to Judea by Romans => Palestinian should mean Jew, but actually there never was any Palestinian People until the KGB invented it in the 1960s.

- Jews didnt have half of the Palestine, but only a fourth: the Palestinian state(as it would be called now) had already half of it: its Jordan (!!!)

- The terror tactic was launched by KGB via Romanian intelligence services

- IMHO the real reason why no peace is possible is NOT historic (negotiations could resolve this) but PRESENT: I/P conflict is vital for Arabic dictators, they couldnt resist peace in the area.

In short: never believe what is shown on TV, even when infographics are cool...

The solution which I think comes closest to solving this conflict is the one proposed by Professor Derek Abbott of the University of Adelaide.

Professor Abbott proposes an engineering solution which proposes: monies spent on the military aspects of this conflict be redirected to an engineering task, reclaim land from the sea rather than fight over the land. He explains his proposal in seven scientific steps:

%u201CStep 1: Estimate the area of Israel = 20,770 sq km

2:Estimate the area of water inside Israel=440sq km

3:Calculate the land mass of Israel.20330-440=20300sq km

4:Estimate the area of the Gaza Strip = 360 sq km

5:Estimate how much it costs to reclaim land out of the Mediterranean Sea. In 2003, the Seychelles reclaimed 3.5 sq km of land from the sea for a mere $US 50 million. So let us be conservative and say that Israel-Palestine land reclamation will cost $50 million per 1 sq km.

6:Estimate how much extra land Israel-Palestine needs so that fighting stops. The exact figure will result from political negotiation. But as engineers, we can at least calculate an upper and a lower bound. In the minimal case we need an extra 360 sq km so that both sides can have a land mass equivalent to the Gaza Strip. In the worst maximal case let us say that we need no more than the land mass of Israel itself%u2014doubling the area should create more than enough for both sides to equitably share.

7:Therefore, the minimal cost = $50 million 360 = $18 billion. The maximal cost is = $50 million 20,300 =$1 trillion.%u201D

"I/P conflict is vital for Arabic dictators, they
couldn't resist peace in the area."

Is an absolutely biased way of looking at what is going on in that region.

I agree that Arabic dictators are shoot-heads (pardon my French), but Israel's treatment of the Palestinian population makes it way too easy for these fooked dictators (again, pardon my French), to make a case against Israel.

The self-defense argument Israel continues to use sounds too much like the Nazi propaganda that fueled the atrocities of WWII.... "The well-being of the Arian race justifies Jewish annihilation."

Just replace the words "the Arian race" with the word "Israel" and replace the word "Jewish" with the word Palestinian and you have what Israel's attitude is towards Palestinians. The Palestinians in that region are just as hopeless and weak today as the Jews were under Nazi boots.

You also stated that we should not believe everything we hear and see on TV. The funny thing is that the TV in the US tries its damn hardest to paint a rosy picture of Israel (its just so damn hard to do these days.)

If US citizens saw what really goes down in that region, and not just what happens to the Palestinians but to both Israelis and Palestinians, you can be sure of two things, first; people would see the disproportion of violence and grief inflicted (I don't think I need to say who does the most damage).

second; American people would be so sick from the violence that not only Israel is guaranteed to lose its billions in military aid from the US but also it stands to lose the good-will of American people towards it.

So be more appreciative of the media, they are trying their damn hardest. The task of making Israel look good on TV nowadays is almost as impossible as making Ahmadinejad and the Ayatollahs look half human.

Thanks for posting this one.
It's all about the knowledge! What a web of confusion we weave?
