They're still in high school but a new study indicates that students who play video games are well on their way to developing abilities that could make them highly-skilled surgeons.High-school 10th graders who spend two hours a day playing video games are able to match and even exceed in some cases the skills of young physicians in simulations of robotic surgery. This is the main finding of a study by researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston who sought to look at ways young people might optimally prepare themselves to be the surgeons of the future. It is one of several studies from UTMB presented this week at the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists' 41st Annual Gloval Congress on Minimally Invasive Gynecology in Las Vegas.
