Physicist and surfer Garrett Lisi presents a controversial new model of the universe that -- just maybe -- answers all the big questions. If nothing else, it\'s the most beautiful 8-dimensional model of elementary particles and forces you\'ve ever seen.

Garrett Lisi is my HERO! Brilliant unification theory.

?!!!!!! You should check out a theory posited by Lee Smolin and published in Scientific American, January 2004, in an article titled, "Atoms of Space and Time". Here he champions a theory called "loop quantum gravity", which theorizes that space and time are composed of discrete particles. This article made a profound impression on me when I read it. I believe that he very nearly landed upon the truth. The only thing I take some issue with is the fact that he still espoused the "Big Bang" as a valid theory. I think that there are problems with the Big Bang Theory. Many years ago I read someone's criticism of the theory centered around the possibility that the observable "red shift" from an expanding universe, might not in fact be the result of the expansion of the Universe. It more likely could be caused by the slight loss of energy of light, only noticeable over vast cosmic distances. The larger the distance, the greater the red shift observed. Lee Smolin has unwittingly posited a possible cause of this loss of energy. It is predicted as part of the Loop Quantum Gravity theory.

Yes very beautiful and quite plausible.
