Originally released in 1972 as a fund-raiser to help pay off the costs of the 1971 Glastonbury Fayre, with a limited run of 5000 copies, here it is back again in all it's magnificence. If this is, as some have claimed a bootleg, then it is the most amazing and incredible bootleg that I have ever come across.
This triple LP set comes complete with all it's original inserts; the cut-out pyramid, 32 page booklet on the festival, fold-out track listing, poster featuring all the artists and a second poster featuring the Triacon Sphere (whatever that is), whilst the album sleeve unfolds into a giant double sided poster, and the whole lot is housed in a printed plastic outer sleeve - all of it beautifully reproduced.
As for the music, there have been grumbles that it has all been dubbed off an original vinyl copy resulting in poor sound quality. Not true. The sound is excellent throughout; although naturally the quality of the live recordings does vary somewhat - the Pink Fairies describe their contribution as `rustic'!
They are one of four acts recorded at the 1971 Glastonbury Fayre, the others being Mighty Baby, Gong, and the Edgar Broughton Band. The remaining artist contributions come from other live recordings or studio outings.
There are long jam sessions from the Grateful Dead, Gong and Pink Fairies, whilst the Marc Bolan and Pete Townshend tracks are both home demos. Other studio recordings come from David Bowie, Brinsley Schwarz and Skin Alley.
