Moral Authority: 'US can't stand an independent Iran' [Saul Landau @ PressTV]

An analyst says the United States is punishing Iran with illegal sanctions because it is disobedient in the sense that it wants to act independently as a nation.

In the background of this on Wednesday Washington slapped new restrictions on Iran's access to the money from its oil sales to other countries. A day after that announcement Brent prices jumped to 117 dollars, which is a 5 month high.

These new sanctions come at the same the US is offering to hold talks with Iran about its nuclear energy program at a P5+1 meeting. Observers say the continuous unilateral application of sanctions on Iran by America is to cripple the country in an effort to force regime change. No evidence has been presented by Western nations that Iran is attempting to militarize its domestic nuclear program and Iran as a member of the NPT says nuclear energy for all, nuclear weapons for none.
