News: This Alien Like Creature is called a Lamprey and it is getting noticed after being posted on the very awesome and popular site reddit. Here is a link to the original photo i.imgur.com It is described on the site as a friend pulling this from a lake in New Jersey. Lamprey although alien looking are actually pretty common. Here is a small bit of info on the creature from wiki: Lampreys (sometimes also called lamprey eels) are an order of jawless fish-like vertebrates, whose adults are characterized by a toothed, funnel-like sucking mouth. The common name "lamprey" is derived from lampetra, which translated from Latin means "stone licker" (lambere "to lick" + petra "stone"). While lampreys are well known for those species which bore into the flesh of other fish to suck their blood, most species of lamprey are not parasitic and never feed on other fish.[2] In zoology, lampreys are not considered to be true fish, because of their distinctive morphology and physiology. The lampreys are a very ancient lineage of vertebrates, though their exact relationship to hagfishes and jawed vertebrates is still a matter of dispute.
