Lazarus taxon are species which was declared extinct in 1 or more period of time but rediscovered again. They are different with living fossils. Living fossils are species known only from fossil before living individual was found.Example of lazarus species is Painted Frog, extinct in 1995 but found again in 2006. Example of living fossil is Coelacanth, extinct million years ago but rediscovered.
