A giant panda named Haizi has given birth to twins, the first pair of the endangered species born in the world this year, according to a wildlife centre in China's Sichuan province. Read more... According to the China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda, Haizi gave birth to her cubs ten minutes apart on Saturday. "This is the first time a giant panda has given birth to twins, anywhere in the world, this year," said conservation expert Liu Chunhua. Giant pandas have difficulty breeding, with females fertile for only two or three days a year. State media said Haizi became pregnant after mating with Bai Yang and Yi Bao in March.
