The Russian female skydiving team known as the "Pearls of Russia" set a new national record Saturday for the 101 people in a free fall jump who joined hands to form a mid-air flower as they plunged toward earth. The record was set above the aerodrome "Aerograd" near the city of Kolomna, about 114 kilometres (71 miles) southeast of Moscow where the team gathered for the sixth year in a competition geared at busting the national skydiving record, set by their own parachute troop last year. The first two days of the event were devoted to training, in which the team members jumped in groups of 40 to 60 people. The women made eleven attempts in the last three days to break the record before they finally succeeded on Saturday afternoon. The victory was dedicated to the captain of the Pearls of Russia team, Irina Sinitsina, who tragically died in the autumn of 2012. The flower formed by the team, had one person missing in the centre, which symbolised Irina. http://ruptly.tv/
