People in Gaza held a rally to express their objection to the Palestinian Authority's negotiations with Israel. Recently the U-S secretary of state John Kerry met with Palestinian and Israeli officials as part of his efforts to rekindle the so-called Middle East peace process. Palestinian and Israeli negotiators are to meet in Washington on Tuesday for preliminary talks. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) who organized the rally called on the Palestinians to abandon negotiations with Israel and return to resistance. Most Palestinian factions have condemned acting Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas's decision to return to the negotiations with Israel. Many here say that negotiations with Israel will only harm the interests of the Palestinian people. Palestinian Israeli negotiations have been on hold since September 2010, when Tel-Aviv said it would continue to build settlements in East Jerusalem al-Quds and the West Bank. The Palestinian NGOs network which represents more than one hundred and thirty Palestinian civil society organizations urged the Palestinian Authority not to go to the negotiations. Experts say that negotiations with Israel have proven to be disastrous for the Palestinians. Protesters say that the sole beneficiary of the negotiations will be Israel who for decades has trampled on Palestinian rights.
