At least two civilians have been killed and several others injured after a blast hit al-Safirah area in Syria's northern city of Aleppo. The incident took place on Saturday after the blast ripped through the eastern countryside of the Aleppo, the official SANA News Agency reported. A woman and a child were among those wounded in the blast. Meanwhile, four Syrian soldiers were killed in an earlier blast in the central province of Hama. The recent violence came as the Syrian government forces have made fresh gains against foreign-backed militants. On Friday, the military said the Syrian troops managed to restore security to the town of al-Hara in the Dara'a countryside after inflicting heavy losses on the militants. The army units also seized large amounts of weapons and ammunition in several areas in Aleppo Governorate and foiled an attempt by the militants to infiltrate into an Aleppo district. In the western city of Homs and in the suburbs of the capital, Damascus, Syrian forces clashed with Takfiri militants, inflicting heavy losses on them. Over the past weeks, the Syrian army has managed to inflict major losses on anti-Damascus armed groups. Syria has been gripped by deadly turmoil since 2011. According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have been killed and millions of others displaced in the violence. Reports indicate that Western powers and their regional allies - especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey - are supporting the militants operating inside the country.
