A group of mainly Egyptian Americans gathered in Washington from across the US to protest the overthrow of Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi. Though many Egyptians were unhappy with Morsi's presidency, protesters state a military coup is not the right way to go about removing him. Morsi remains under a military-imposed house arrest. Protesters have gathered here at Freedom Plaza just blocks away from the White House and say they have a strong message for the Obama administration. Egypt remains the second largest recipient of US foreign aid, at $1.5 billion per year. Hundreds of protesters have been killed since the former president's ousting over a month ago.
