The Egyptian military has kept the Rafah crossing with the Gaza Strip sealed since last Thursday citing the Eid-Ul-Fitr holiday. Following the election of Egyptian president Mohammad Morsi restrictions that were in place during the rule of former dictator Husni Mubarak were eased. Nearly fifteen hundred Gazans were allowed to pass through it on a daily basis. Immediately after the ouster of Egyptian president Mohammad Morsi the number of people allowed to leave Gaza dropped to less than a hundred per day.
