About 30,000 people were marching peacefully in Bogota until some masked youths began throwing rocks and bricks at police. The police used teargas, suspecting there could be militants from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (RAFC) among them, according to Interior Minister Fernando Carrillo, as cited by El Espectador newspaper. Bogota's mayor said that 89 people were injured, of which 23 were admitted to hospital. Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos had a look on the site of clashes in a helicopter flight to personally evaluate the scale of violence in the town of Soacha near Bogota.
