A Brazilian judge dismissed a multi-billion dollar lawsuit against oil giant Chevron this week, after prosecutors and lawyers for the oil company reached a deal. The two-year lawsuit was over an oil spill that happened in 2011 off the coast of Rio de Janeiro that spilled at least 3,600 barrels of crude oil into the Atlantic Ocean. The case was the largest environmental lawsuit in Brazilian history as prosecutors sought $18 billion in damages from Chevron, and also filed charges against the company's drilling contractor, Transocean Ltd., and 17 employees.
