Some states in the U-S are considering bringing back old-fashioned executions due to an alleged shortage of drugs for lethal injections.
Lawmakers in some death penalty states are thinking about bringing back firing squads, electrocutions, and gas chambers. Most states stopped using such execution methods a generation ago. States began moving to lethal injection in the nineteen-eighties. At the time, officials believed that powerful sedatives and heart-stopping drugs would replace the violent spectacles with a more clinical affair. But two recent executions -- in which people died slowly -- have raised concern about the lethal injection drugs' effectiveness.
