2012: Leaks Found in Earth's Magnetic Field

Scientists have found two large leaks in Earth's magnetosphere, the region around our planet that shields us from severe solar storms.
The leaks are defying many of scientists' previous ideas on how the interaction between Earth's magnetosphere and solar wind occurs: The leaks are in an unexpected location, let in solar particles in faster than expected and the whole interaction works in a manner that is completely the opposite of what scientists had thought.

i have this guys book on physics of the impossible. Very unique ideas come from this guy. He is very intelligent, and i would tend to believe him. I am not sure when this happened, but I seem to remember a day when a major cell phone provider lost its sattelite feed in space, and shut down a lot of communications. I know it was in the recent past, poss. 15-20 years ago. My point is that what he is saying could happen and we need to prepare for it.
