'25 killed, over 240 injured in clashes between police, protesters in Ukraine' [PressTV]

Moving on to Ukraine's capital Kiev, where at least 25 people have lost their lives in a fresh security crackdown on anti-government protesters.

More than 240 people have also been wounded in renewed clashes between police and protesters. The death toll is feared to rise as some of the injured are in critical condition. A thick black smoke is rising from the protest camp in central Kiev. President Viktor Yanukovych has blamed opposition leaders for the violence, saying they've crossed the line by urging their supporters to take up arms. The recent violence is seen as the worst in the country’s post-Soviet history. It comes in the wake of mass protests which broke out back in November after President Yanukovych rejected a landmark association and trade deal with the EU in favor of closer ties with Russia.
