'Over 20 people killed in fresh spate of violence in Ukraine' [PressTV]

No end in sight to the deadly unrest in the Ukrainian capital Kiev. Violent clashes continue despite a truce between President Viktor Yanukovych and the main opposition leaders.

Unconfirmed reports say at least 25 more people have been killed in a fresh spate of violence there. If confirmed, the figure would bring the death toll to over fifty since Tuesday. Meanwhile, police have urged Kiev residents to stay indoors. Still, thousands of anti-government protesters remain camped out at the city’s Independence Square. Police say a sniper has wounded 20 officers by shooting from the window of a building overlooking the square. This is while, the capital city's mayor has also resigned from the ruling party in protest of the bloodshed there. Now opposition leader Vitaly Klitschko is calling for a special parliament session to discuss the crisis on Thursday. Ukrainian lawmakers say the situation in the capital is getting out of control.
