AR1967 Monster Sunspot is Back

- AR1967 ReturnsNow back for the third time around, it looks like a portion of the large dark core belonging to 1967 did survive the trip and is now emerging off the east limb. The formerly large active region continues to produce C-Class and lower level M-Class solar flares. An flare was detected at 11:17 UTC Monday morning. Despite appearing to be in an advanced state of decay, there will remain a chance for isolated solar flares. Most flare activity, including the flare, is being centered around former region 1967 which is now returning into view off the east limbThese pictures are from NASA, and Were taken from the AIA instrument of the satellite SDO (Solar Dynamics Observatory), with a wavelength of 304 Angstroms. This movie was produced by helioviewer credits: Topher Mohr and Alex Elena - "The Hours"
