Russian parliament has ratified a treaty that allows Crimea and the city of Sevastopol to rejoin Russia.
Four-hundred-and-45 lawmakers voted in favor of the treaty while only one M-P voted against it. The ratification comes two days after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the treaty in a ceremony attended by heads of Crimea and Sevastopol. On Sunday, nearly 97 percent of the residents of the Crimean Peninsula, located south of Ukraine, voted in favor of re-joining Russia in a region-wide referendum. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has condemned unilateral US and EU sanctions against Russian officials.
