Pro-Russia protesters in Ukraine have said they will go ahead with the upcoming independence referendum, despites Putin’s request for delaying the vote.

The decision comes just one day after Russia’s President Vladimir Putin called for the vote which is scheduled for May 11, to be delayed in order to create better conditions for talks.

Also Russia says it will accept the outcome of an upcoming presidential election in Ukraine only on the condition that Kiev ends military operations against Pro-Russia protesters in the country’s troubled eastern regions,

On May 7, Putin proposed a roadmap to peace and also called Ukraine’s presidential election scheduled for May 25, a step in the right direction.

Russia’s leader also called for talks between Ukraine's interim leadership and Pro-Russia protesters.
