Silly me but I read it was Christiaan Barnard, in South Africa in 1967, after doing kidney transplants here in the USA a few years before.But hey, dont let facts get in the way of a good comment one can make on the interwebs!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christiaan_Barnard
