Big Government Exclusive: Delegate to Congress for the District of Columbia Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton leaves voice mail citing her seniority and stimulus-based projects in lobbyist's "sector".
"I was, frankly, uh, uh, surprised to see that we don't have a record, so far as I can tell, of your having given to me despite my uh, long and deep uh, work. In fact, it's been my major work, uh, on the committee and sub-committee it's been essentially in your sector.
I am, I'm simply candidly calling to ask for a contribution. As the senior member of the um, committee and a sub-committee chair, we have (chuckles) obligations to raise, uh funds. "

Am I missing something??? Asking for contributions is the rigueur de jour. Has anyone besides me, ever worked on an election campaign?? You ALWAYS ask for contributions. There is NOTHING illegal or even UNUSUAL about this practice. THIS IS HOW ALL POLITICIANS GET MONEY TO RUN FOR OFFICE! This is how its always been done, and this is how it always WILL be done, unless we have some REAL ELECTION REFORM. There is NOTHING illegal or even UNUSUAL about this practice. What is ILLEGAL, is ASKING FOR MONEY IN EXCHANGE FOR POLITICAL FAVORS OR THE LIKE. Such as no-bid contracts given to Haliburton, an ex-Texas based conglomerate, now headquartered out of DUBAI, an Arabic country, on the Arabian Peninsula. You should be aware that Haliburton funneled HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, out of the US TREASURY, TO THEMSELVES AND TO THEIR SUBSIDIARIES SUCH AS BLACKWATER AND KELLOGG ROOT AND BROWN WHO run the infrastructure of the US combat in the middle east. (Quiz: Prior to inauguration day, 20 January 2001, when Haliburton WAS GOING THRU BANKRUPTCY, WHO WAS THE PREVIOUS CEO, who became Vice President under dubya bush? In case you are totally ignorant of what goes on in the world, the answer will be found below.) unbelievable, (especially as we are in charge of the contracts and funding) none verbatim. Scandalous! imo (although not surprised, only amazed that she left it on a recording machine).Instant Dismissal imo.
