The door way to hell as it ts named by locals is found in Darvaza, Turkmenistan.i t is a gas filled crater and has been burning for over 37 years.Experts decided to light the natural gas,to stop poisonous fumes spreading,it has been burning ever since.

They could ring that hole with boilers on booms, run steam turbines and make power for the whole town. There would have to be a bunch of idiots governing the place to waste so much energy for so long!

There's probably an embargo or political blockade keeping them from using it. Blame the waste on the useless politicians who keep us from using it. I suppose we could play like King Leonides in '300' and throw BP officials in there.
