As near as can determined, the race itself exceeds 500 million years in age, and are not indigenous. With that age, they are considerably more advanced, and, as a matter of fact - didn't get here by "space shuttle" technology - particularly where they are from.

Speculative. In my mind, any 'race' living in caves or underground would not be considered the 'more advanced' race.
