The mark of the Beast (666) was a numerical anagram for Nero Caesuras, or the Roman emperor, Nero. The whore on the seven mountains was referencing Rome, which is historical known as the city built on seven hills. The battle of Armageddon refers to the upcoming battle when, at the end of the first Jewish rebellion, the last remnants of armed resistance had fled to the top of Har Megiddo (Mount Megiddo/Armageddon). They had been surrounded by the Roman legions who had built a wall completely around the fortress to show that there was to be no escape. John the Revelator, writing in exile, wrote an apocalyptic book telling how the survivors were to be miraculously rescued by God, possibly through an invasion by the horsed forces of the Scythians. The Romans would be defeated and the Jewish/Christian forces would triumph. History did not quite work out that way. The Romans built a ramp to the very top of the edifice. The night before they were to take the city, according to Josephus, the surviving men killed their families and then committed suicide to avoid their deaths and enslavement by the Romans.

For two thousand years, Christians have attempted to adapt this apocalyptic book to their times and circumstances. Understand and appreciate it for what it truly is, a piece of irreplaceable and remarkable Roman, Jewish and early Christian history.

I guess this guy was a bit premature...or could he simply be trying to read tea leaves or chicken entrails. Anyone who is well acquainted with both history and the Bible, would quickly realize that Author of the book of Revelations was writing about events contemporaneous to him. He was largely referring to the Roman Empire which dominated the known world including Israel/Judah at the time.

I'm sooooo sick of these religious nutjobs. For thousands and thousands of years human kind has always thought their generation was special.. was the one that was chosen to endure "end times".Guess what? It ain't gonna happen, unless we make it happen.
