Tracking down and taking out an international terrorist such as Bin Laden Is not an easy task. It isn't like raiding a local pot pusher. Taking him down, or out, requires exact information and planned strategy to keep down casualties of US and allied forces as well as civilians. Bin Laden was a high profile target and there was a lot at stake.
