KAYENTA, Ariz. -- Residents of the small, northern Arizona town of Kayenta recently reported the appearance of unusual lights in the sky. Local police and town officials were flooded with phone calls Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, as dozens of area residents sought answers.
Kayenta resident Tracey Edwards said 15 to 20 lights appeared to be moving and blinking for nearly 40 minutes before disappearing over Monument Valley.
There has been no official explanation as to the origin of the lights.
On March 13, 1997 an unexplained sighting across metro Phoenix is perhaps the most famous mass UFO sighting in the world. The event, now known as the appearance of the "Phoenix Lights", has never been officially explained.
