John of Levi tribe was Cousin of Jesus In Spirit as Mary was of Judah tribe and no inter tribal marriage.
Both John, the Baptist and Christ Jesus possessed Holy Spirit and in spirit, they were Cousins but not the tribal sense. There are no inter tribal marriages among the Jews.
