Quiet Sonic Boom Research Effort Ends In A Whisper

NASA's Waveforms and Sonic boom Perception and Response (WSPR) study gathered data from more than 100 volunteer Edwards Air Force Base residents on their impressions of sonic booms produced by NASA F/A-18 aircraft in supersonic flight over Edwards. The study helped develop data collection methods and test protocols for future public perception studies in areas where sonic booms are rarely heard.
