Only reason we got to where we are today is thanks to my dad...he refuses to let any of his children work and made us all went to school, alot of asian family come here and then they all go to work, but my dad knew education would benefit in the long run and he was right....I still feel bad for him though just coming here we weren't rich back home so we came over here pretty much empty handed, land we couldn't sell cause other family claimed it. He supported all his children through school working manual labor on graveyard shifts cause he doesn't speak english well enough to get other jobs.
Alot of American think we'd get something from the government? yeah right. My dad never took any welfare or aids we don't believe in living off others. Some American nowadays complain about how immigrant workers are taking their job....but i say BS they're only taking the jobs that those American never had interest in doing anyway. Jobs that are low paying manual labor without benefits or union are what's being taken, how many american would do it? Hell even a job at McDonald would be better then what most of these immigrant workers are doing. My father was a certified electrician back home but when he came here he can't practice it cause of the "degree" BS that is required to start a shop or work for a company. It's not like those people WANT to but they do what they must to provide for their family.
And on that note frankly i don't know any one personally who benefits from anything the government provides....if anything all we get are racist comment and gestures. Matter of fact i think about the only benefit of being an immigrant in the US is the ability to cuss people in a different language while still smiling as if we're praising them.
Kyo, I don't doubt you for a minute. I should have put a little more thought into my last post. Because you are correct. Most all Asians that I know do not go for the gov handouts. They have a far higher sense of pride, in my book, as you say your dad has. So, it was then very unfair for me to suggest that all immigrants take advantage of the welfare, and loan handouts here. I apologize, didn't mean any offence. I have seen a lot of it though, the advantage taking. And I guess too, I have led a few of these posts off topic. Really appreciated your insight and story here though. Thanks for the share.
Your dads an honorable man.

It's interesting how the stereotypes start melting away when you encounter real human beings. Good posts, both of you

...also here in the UK:
Ministers Urged to Extend Free Flu Jabs to Over 60s
'Free flu jabs should be made available to anyone aged 60 and over, Government advisers have recommended. Minutes taken from the last meeting of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation influenza subgroup, which advises ministers on national policy, read: 'It was thought there is UK data to show a clear rise in hospitalisations in the over-50s and that vaccinating 60 to 64-year-olds was definitely worth considering.'
The group added that at least one study concluded vaccinating those aged 50 to 64 could be 'cost-effective' by reducing the rate of hospital admissions caused by flu.'
Hold-up...This is the same group of Big Pharma funded drug dealers that want your kids to get 32 vaccines before they are 4 yrs old!(For their own good of course)
That information was from David Icke.com and as we dont have a lizard smilie how about this then..

Well i do think bird flu could be a problem, but not because i think its a realy dangerous virus, it is strange all of the precautions that are being taken for this though, emergency contacts ready vaccines set to go and all for something thats rarely contracted by people, it has about a 60% mortality rate, and this is quite high but its rarely passed onto people.

Low-pathogenic avian influenza has been found on a broiler breeder farm in western Kentucky belonging to Perdue Farms. The virus, responsible for a minimal drop in egg production in mid-March, has been identified as belonging to the H7 sub-type. State and federal authorities are investigating a finding of suspected non-pathogenic or low-pathogenic avian influenza in a single broiler breeder farm in western Kentucky., according to Lex18. The strain poses minimal risk to human health and is not the highly pathogenic strain associated with human and poultry deaths in other countries. State veterinarian, Robert C. Stout, has quarantined the farm, which produces hatching eggs for Perdue Farms Inc. Perdue plans to depopulate 20,000 chickens in two houses on the farm. "The state and federal government and Perdue are acting aggressively to contain and eliminate the disease," Dr. Stout said. "There is no evidence that any infected poultry are in the human food supply as a result of this infection. We will do what is necessary to minimise the disruption to overseas trade." "I have been in constant contact with state, federal and industry officials since this came to light," Agriculture Commissioner, Richie Farmer, said. "The people of Kentucky and our trading partners should rest assured that we are doing everything possible to address the situation." The Kentucky Department of Agriculture is conducting surveillance on backyard flocks within a two-mile radius of the farm. A minimal drop in egg production at the farm was noticed in mid-March. Perdue's veterinary services laboratory took samples from chickens at the farm and found antibodies for avian influenza. Testing by the National Veterinary Services Laboratory in Ames, Iowa, resulted in a presumptive positive finding for the H7 strain. Subsequent testing by NVSL and the Breathitt Veterinary Center in Hopkinsville confirmed the finding. No virus has been isolated and no poultry deaths have been found in connection with the infection.
I love how it says this - Perdue plans to depopulate 20,000 chickens.
