Since half of Jupiter is always facing away from Earth and since Jupiter is obscured by the Sun 20% of the time as well as not every event is imaged even when things are happening: This means we have only seen about 33% of the Jupiter flashes at best and this implies 9 actual flash events have happened!

When this is considered the rarity of "impacts" makes the impact theory implausible and another theory must be studied:

The book above is the best explanation for the recent "impacts" on Jupiter. (can be had for free Aug. 11 on Amazon Kindle special promotion)

Since 2010 there have been 3 massive flashes on Jupiter said to be impacts, June 3, 2010, August 20, 2010 and September 10, 2012.

What most have failed to see and what the mainstream astronomy circles have failed to point out is that at best we see only 1/3 of all Jupiter events like this. (3 / .333 = 9)

What Carper's "Project Lucifer" theory suggests is that these are almost certainly NOT impacts (no debris had been spotted at any of the three flash sites), but MASSIVE ELECTRICAL DISCHARGES due to Jupiter now supporting a modest fusion reaction at its core!

http://www.nasa.gov/topics/solarsystem/ ... 21017.html

The above NASA article shows that NASA and Orton's team began worrying about what was happening inside Jupiter right after the unusual Wesley mark of July 2009 was spotted.

In the first row of images (in fact the first image) you can see the Wesley mark in the southern realms (bottom of Jupiter).

This NASA article goes on to remark about the "turmoil" inside Jupiter (Infrared heat causing clouds changes) and the mystery of it all, and the mystery of "why Jupiter is getting hit so much suddenly". The most plausible theory is that ALL events are sourcing from deep inside Jupiter and the new IR heat is the first thing one would see from a new fusion reaction deep inside.

Note: the flashes of June and August 2010 were ANTIPODAL (opposite sides of Jupiter globe in L3 data), yet another clue that these are ELECTRICAL DISCHARGES (in this case two charges from center to surface in an electrical arc = antipodal flashes).

Jupiter is not "obscured" by the sun 20% of the time as suggested.

By the way, if you are going to bump your thread, at least wait till it's not on the top of the list.

It's not obscured directly, but it's difficult to get a good shot of it due to the Sun about 15-20% of the time. This discourages observers from imaging it until it's in better position.
