(CNN) -- At least seven people are dead and between 12 and 15 wounded in shootings at Fort Hood in Texas on Thursday, senior Pentagon official told CNN.

At least one person is "neutralized" in connection with the incident, and a second is "cornered," retired Army Lt. Gen. Russel Honore told CNN, citing "unofficial, unconfirmed reports" from two sources.

On the Fort Hood Web site, the word "closed" is posted with the statement, "Effective immediately, Fort Hood is closed. Organizations/units are instructed to execute a 100 percent accountability of all personnel."

Fort Hood was asking people on post to stay away from windows, CNN affiliate KXXV said. The incident took place at the sports dome, now known as the soldier readiness area, the station reported.

Wonder if this is a terrorist attack, doesn't make since because terrorists usually go after civilian targets.

It's probably a returning solider that did it. and the military bases in a lot of American areas don't even have real Military police, they have contracted out through private sectors of security.

that is how it was on my trip to Fort Campbell KY. private security at the bases entrances an exits. just another reason why we have too many troops overseas babysitting the world.

(CNN) -- Two gunmen in military uniforms shot and killed as many as nine people and wounded as many as 20 at Fort Hood in Texas on Thursday, officials said.

One of the shooters has been apprehended, Fort Hood spokesman Sgt. Maj. Jamie Posten told CNN.

"At this point we're looking for the other shooter," Posten said. Asked for a description, he said, "we're trying to develop that information."

The shooters were wearing military uniforms, but it was unclear whether they were soldiers, said U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas

President Obama has been informed of the incident, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters.

The death toll is upto 11 including one of the gunman. I assume this will be called a domestic terror event, or is it the start of something more?

That part of Texas is known for mass killings.

In 1991 a shooter killed 24 people in a Luby's cafeteria in Killeen.

Fort Hood is located in Killeen.

And who can forget Waco? It's just down the road...

Very true and GWB lives nearby as well. All we know right now is multiple people have attacked the largest military base in the US one has been killed and 2 others are in custody.

Been alot of talk the last few years of civil war or revolution here in the states, it makes me wonder how organized these people were.

Was this a soldier who did it? How would civilians get guns on a military base?! Anyone know??

Edit: Never mind it was soldiers... Pretty creepy...

yeah "Kill"een..

it is probably a small group of service men that are sick of their orders or militia that are sick of the way the government are running things. it's a disgrace to see something like this happen, but a lot of the times the message is important people just decide to do it the way they see necessary.

that would be like someone going to the white house and shooting a rocket in the presidents window, I would understand it as someone was sick and tired of the lies and needed to end it how he thought they should. while someone else would blindly look away and say "they are fucking crazies" then forget about it. .... kind of reminds you what happened on 9/11 you have those same assholes that know nothing about something claiming to know everything about it, but then you back them into a corner and its " I really don't know shit"......

this was more than likely a message that will never be told because the mainstream media will cover it up into something it wasn't and if it does get released, it will be from the people that saw it go down, and when they speak up they will be labeled as crazies again...

I hate this fucking world!

FORT HOOD, Texas – The U.S. Army says 12 people have been killed and 31 wounded in a shooting rampage on the Fort Hood Army base in Texas. Lt. Gen Bob Cone said at a news conference that one shooter has been killed and two suspects were apprehended on Thursday. He says they are all U.S. soldiers.

The shooting began around 1:30 p.m. Cone says that all the casualties took place at the base's Soldier Readiness Center where soldiers who are about to be deployed or who are returning undergo medical screening.

He says the primary shooter used two handguns in the attack.
