I just got up from a dream where I was with some other kids in a house and one of the girls came out of a room and the other kids were laughing. Someone asked "where was she?" Then one of the boys says, "She was being punished for being bad and had to stay in THE KEEPING ROOM". Then everyone started laughing.
I never heard of a Keeping Room and I thought that it was some sort of jail ( since the name "keeping ). When I woke up, I looked it up and this was the definition:
"A keeping room is an area just off the kitchen of a home. Keeping rooms date back to Colonial times when families would sleep in that area when the rest of the house was cold. Since the area could be heated by the kitchen stove, it often provided the only heated place in the house. Today, a keeping room is called by many different names, depending on one's geographical location, such as a family room, a great room and a hearth room."
Now I am African American and grew up in the projects and now live in a loft in NYC, shared with room mates.
Never lived in a "real house" and never heard of a keeping room before.
Do you think that this dream was something from a past life?
its interesting in your dream the girl is "punished" to stay in the keeping room , while the definition clearly states that it is the warmest place in the house, lol i wouldnt consider that a punishment at all .it could be past life rememberance ,but for the most part there are certain triggers and familiarities that set off a past life rememberance ,and if you dont believe in reincarnation most wouldnt realize these triggers .another thing it could be is , and this is going to sound odd but hear me out perhaps you at one time displayed compassion , or empathy or a emotion that was feminine and you were laughed at for it , maybe by your friends ,or family ,and it bothered you , that you held on to this thought .. even subconciously ,and like dreams are meant to be , they impart symbolism for the most part the unconcious speaks to us through symbology . a technique i do at bedtime is review the days events play it back like a vcr . then when i go to bed i have a clear unobstructed mind , lol unless there is something really pressing and stressful then i will probably dream about it .maybe try writing down the artifacts or symbols in your dream and apply them to whats going on right now . so i hope you dont take what i said about the feminine aspect as me calling you girly thats not what i mean but an event that could have triggered that response from others hence the laughing and girl archetype ..lol just pointing out a possibility .
