You might like:
I´m a very mixed bag of poison, still alive kicking.
My sober years was endless planning to kick the shit out of a few people.
Later i started drinking/smoking so on, relaxed to study. I´m perhaps an idiot that has to many talents, but made more clients happy! in 3 months, then many architects in a lifetime.
I make everyone hate my guts in any area of life! if grouphugging is needed, so drugs are needed to calm down, done some sick stuff sober when young.
Go for it, I suppose you know the software to use for future integration with all there is in the BIM industry, and Green stocks, and Leed certification, spelling is not my first name, but I know this industry.

But I have to ask - are you saying that you successfully quit weed, or alcohol, or both?
Or that you passed anyway?
Just curious...
No I didn't cut back at all for the course ( I wanted to but my emotions wouldn't allow me to )
I just stayed focused on my objective and didn't give up...I smoked weed to and from school just about everyday and drank at least a few drinks each day. I am a bit of an exception, I believe
Hey man, good for you.
I'm an exception, too. I've been drinking and smoking weed for longer than some of these numptys have been alive and I still can hold my own...

very excellent analogy, almost makes perfect sense when you apply it to people.

Depend if longsighted, if in any dangerous situation I prefer to be sober.
On a 10 year term I would prefer addiction, but be dead.

I wish you all luck Newearthman. Don't risk a bright secure future with booze or bongs, either or both at this crucial phase in your life could so easily spoil everything. They both cause short term memory loss, that could sabotage your studies drastically.
You have a good opportunity here, try to become enthusiastic to the point of feeling fired up to the studies, then that positive energy will kick right in and kick the addictions out of play.
When you've passed the course please don't go back to these addictions, they may always be there and could so easily cause big problems in a potentially very happy and successful life. Use your enthusiasm and you'll get through fine, it will lead to new and increasingly strong confidence. You can do it. GO FOR IT!!

Well,I guess I am an addict too.I toke,I smoke,and I like a beer.See
you are not so different than many of us.I wont say life is what you
make it,as I know I tried that route,and believe me,sometimes life gets
in your way,The daily grind...When we are young we see the future as
something thats like a Disney movie with a happy ending.
The mere fact that you question that reality tells me that you got a
handle on it.So you can and are "manning up" to the challenge.
You just need to put all that fear aside and maybe drink a little less
and focus on what is important to you now,you can achive all that you
can imagine, the force is inside you ,I forsee a happy ending for
you..peace Dragon_Lady

Good to hear, congrats and keep on it,
I quit smoking cigs 3 months ago,<been smoking 20 yrs> cold turkey too. currently smoking my last bag, and i'm not a drinker overall. once in a blue moon type.
still want one, but have decided for bigger and better goals. Is a tough road, but in the end it is all just a mental thing, and is worth it.
when i quit smoking cigs, it was recognizing that it was more then just the nicotine addiction, it was the whole action, so I smoked one cig per activity that normally would be followed by a smoke, and in a day i covered all the activities with the decision in mind this was the last time while doing this, and once the last cig was smoked, i had accepted my decision, and havent looked back since
Again i wish you all the luck, and find that inner chi / force spot to zen out with, it helps, because reality will test ya and make you want to smoke/lapse.
big congratz

They are so evil....I say no one over 19 should be able to buy tobbacco from here on out!
