I think Dutch just pulled it.
There may not be any confirmation of the story.
Could have been a fluke from the system. Or, USGS just pulled all the data for some bizarre reason.
This may just be a non-event.

Alright, so I found this anomaly to be quite interesting to say the least, so I decided to look into it a bit further. I checked the USGS sites, and of course found nothing.
So I googled "africa earthquake november 2012" and found a few things.
For the most part is was pretty much the same info that has been discussed in this thread, but as I read through the comments (i'm bored) I came across this: "Oklahoma had a 5.6M today — which was wiped off the map (linked below here on facebook w/ screenshots and the data from IRIS)." http://jhaines6.wordpress.com/2012/11/17/11172012-alert-needs-verification-now-africa-9-9m-earthq/ (I couldnt find said facebook link on the page.)
I found this to be interesting, so I decided to look into that as well. I checked the IRIS and the 5.6 is there (http://www.iris.edu/seismon/), but I cant find it on the USGS site.
Point being, if a 5.6M quake is taken off the map, as if it didn't happen, well, you see where i'm going with this. thoughts?

and the USGS:
(i realize that the "africa quake" is on neither site) Cheers

Seems to be at least one every other day....
RIK
Hey Rik.
Well, here in the Sooner state, there appears to be a massive amount of fracking going on.
There's a major fracking operation in Shawnee that goes off like twice a month.
I felt a 4.5 come right through my room here some time ago.
As for the disappearing 5.6 mentioned by Humanbeing, that may be the same incidence of what happened in the alleged 9.0+ in Africa - what may appear to be a glitch may well be the USGS pulling data off for some other nefarious purpose.
Cheers.
