Netanyahu has just conferred with Russia on Israel's probable looming attack on Iran. It is a frightening prospect, because, at the very least, the price of oil will skyrocket,

Dr of what, WTF, its a frightening prospect because the price of oil will go up, what about the death and destruction?

This thread is Critically important.

There is no chance that the Chief of State of a powerful sovereign nation would rush off to a neutral-enemy nation unless there was a major problem.

Note, in the past few days, the construction of settlements has resumed. This flies directly in the face of the American Administration. It is clear that Netanyahu is not expecting American support any time soon.

Remember that the Director of the CIA covertly went to Israel about a few months ago in a rush to stop a war. Link: Panetta Rushed to Israel http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/w ... 289593.ece

Netanyahu was either making sure Russia would not retaliate against Israel, or he was summoned there. Why would the Prime Minister be summoned to Russia? Your guess is as good as mine. Unless, there are a good number of things here that we cannot see.

Im sorry for the phrase but....
the shit has hit the fan!
the middle east is a hot bed for trouble and unfortunatly that will only change if one side is wiped off the face of the earth!
this major problem will drag every other nation into it as well causing a mass world war, probably the war to end all wars!
Dont get me wrong Im not the type of person to be all doom and gloom but this is the biggest story going at the moment that does effect EVERYONE on the planet!
Lets hope that this doesnt come to be people but the way tensions are then well.......
If Iran are building nukes then they wont stop! why should they when all their so called enemys have them!
before America went into Iraq the saudies begged the us not to do so saying and I qoute
'If you go into Iran you will be opening the gates to Hell'
I feel for the men and women that have lost thier loved ones and lost their lives over there and the men and women that have fought through out the middle east but this has been bubbling up ever since!

The last offensive Israel took against the Palestinian's did not go as easy as they had planned. Against a much bigger adversary, the nukes might be pulled out. I pray not

Netanyahu mystery trip sets off flap in Israel

By JOSEF FEDERMAN (AP) – 43 minutes ago

The Russian daily Kommersant, citing a "highly placed source in the Kremlin," confirmed the visit and speculated the talks had been on an extremely urgent matter, "like Israel updating Russia on its intention to attack Iran."

The Israeli reports said Netanyahu was joined by his military secretary, Maj. Gen. Meir Kalifi, and national security adviser Uzi Arad.

Arad, a former Mossad spymaster, favors a tough line against Tehran and would almost certainly be involved in any preparations to attack Iran. Israel has strongly hinted it is prepared to attack the country's nuclear sites if international sanctions fail to persuade Tehran to curb its atomic program.

According to the Israeli reports, the rest of Netanyahu's inner circle was not told of the trip, and the leaks appeared to have been from disgruntled aides angry they were left out of the loop.

Arad, widely considered the prime minister's closest adviser, is a controversial figure in Netanyahu's office. He has clashed with other top officials and is reportedly so obsessed with security that he has demanded that other top advisers be subjected to lie detector tests.

I doubt the Israeli government has taken into consideration what will happen to the millions of jews around the world should they go ahead and nuke millions of innocent Iranian people. It's not as if they are the most popular race in the world at present. The world watched as peaceful marches took place in Iran after their last elections. These Iranians are educated, free spirited people that are forced to follow a regime, yet they will be the 1st target, the indiscriminate slaughter of men, women and children. I fear for the US too, it is digging itself into a hole with which there is no way out other than enivitable annialhation. God bless us all, we are a primitive, ignorant, hateful race of beings as a whole. We destroy more than we protect, why have we evolved this way, it will be our undoing.

its been on the cards for a while Fri Jun 6, 2008 2:54pm EDT,JERUSALEM (Reuters) - An Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear sites looks "unavoidable" given the apparent failure of sanctions to deny Tehran technology with bomb-making potential, one of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's deputies said on Friday.

"If Iran continues with its program for developing nuclear weapons, we will attack it. The sanctions are ineffective," Transport Minister Shaul Mofaz told the mass-circulation Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper.

"Attacking Iran, in order to stop its nuclear plans, will be unavoidable," said the former army chief who has also been defense minister.

It was the most explicit threat yet against Iran from a member of Olmert's government, which, like the Bush administration, has preferred to hint at force as a last resort should U.N. Security Council sanctions be deemed a dead end.

Iran has defied Western pressure to abandon its uranium enrichment projects, which it says are for peaceful electricity generation rather than bomb-building. The leadership in Tehran has also threatened to retaliate against Israel -- believed to have the Middle East's only atomic arsenal -- and U.S. targets in the Gulf for any attack on Iran.

Mofaz also said in the interview that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has called for Israel to be wiped off the map, "would disappear before Israel does."

A spokesman for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert did not address Mofaz's comments directly but said that "all options must remain on the table" and said more could be done to put financial pressure on Tehran.

"Israel believes strongly that while the U.N. sanctions are positive, much more needs to be done to pressure the regime in Tehran to cease its aggressive nuclear program," spokesman Mark Regev said.

"We believe the international community should be considering further tangible steps such as embargoing refined petroleum headed for Iran, sanctions against Iranian businessmen traveling abroad, tightening the pressure on Iranian financial institutions and other such steps," he added.

Mofaz's remarks came as he and several other senior members of Olmert's Kadima Party prepare for a possible run for top office should a corruption scandal force the Israeli prime minister to step down.

Iranian-born Mofaz has been a main party rival of the Israeli prime minister, particularly following the 2006 elections when Olmert was forced to hand the defense portfolio to Labour, his main coalition partner, at Mofaz's expense.

Mofaz, who is also designated as a deputy prime minister, has remained privy to Israel's defense planning. He is a member of Olmert's security cabinet and leads regular strategic coordination talks with the U.S. State Department.

Israeli planes destroyed Iraq's nuclear reactor in 1981.

A similar Israeli sortie over Syria last September razed what the U.S. administration said was a nascent nuclear reactor built with North Korean help. Syria denied having any such facility.

Independent analysts have questioned, however, whether Israel's armed forces can take on Iran alone, as its nuclear sites are numerous, distant and well-fortified.

Nice, but the only thing I disagree with is the election marches. They were not peaceful, they were infact violent.
