Although some civil liberties have been compromised, we are far from anything looking like Nazi Germany, unless you are an alarmist or someone from another country that is an alarmist. Although I will admit, the Democrat party would love to have the government control every aspect of your life, but we still have a 2 party system that keeps the pendulum swaying.

But to consider the U.S. Nazi Germany is a complete fantasy that each side blames on the other to scare people and start the accusations flying back and forth.

We've had the Reichstag fire (9/11) and the appeasement didn't work either. Now the Middle East would be Poland. I agree with the OP, only this time it's at a bigger scale.
