You might like:
In 1997 an old friend died at 97.
I loved the lady very much.
Even in her 90s she was beautyful, her face was proud and her eyes blue and bright.
She had memorized big parts of the bible and countless poems.
But the most notable thing was her undergoing of different times.
In 1918 she saw German Emperor Wilhelm II. disappear.
Then the Weimar Republic with all troubles and inflation.
Then Hitler, war and devastation, she lost a son in Russia.
In 1949 a new, communist Germany, lasting till 1989.
Finally the new, united Germany she experienced for almost 8 years.
When she died, she said to me, God was good to her and gave me a kiss.
If those people have survived different systems, why not we or many of us?
Memorizing good stuff is not bad at all...

Good story
She was from a golden age of people.
My auntie died recently at 98. She never complained about anything.
She took everything as it came. She never worried.
"If it happens, it happens" she would say.
In payment for being this way she was repaid with a long happy life.
She was given a good life by God just like your friend.
Im affraid people like that are now dying off and this generation has not learn't from them.
I hope i have though.

Not really.. it's a feeling I've had for a while... How in our cultural cycle, things seem to flip from left and right and up and down and black and white in half the time it took the last cycle. And I think, if the worse we've seen so far in recent history is communism and THAT "only" lasted about 70 years, then even the NWO nightmare everyone dreads should be over in 30... Which means, there will still be a collective memory for people to use to rebuild something better....

"Lipika (lit. The 'Recorders) They are said to enter in the book of the unfading cosmic memory every detail of all that has happened during a Manvantara. The highest in the Hierarchy of Celestial Beings; they create a division between the arupa (spiritual) and the rupa (lower, form) levels of existence."
