Here is video of Kentucky GOP U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul in an interview with George Stephanopoulos where he defended himself against the hatchet-job attacks launched on him by the media since his nomination victory.

Stephanopoulos started with a long diatribe against Paul, who began his response with “Good Morning, George. Good Morning, Robin (Roberts). When does my honeymoon period begin?”

Paul said he has been “trashed” ever since his nomination earlier this week, and said these are “DNC talking points” being used against him.

He later asked Stephanopoulos point blank, “Where do you get your talking points? The Democrat National Committee?”

Paul said he has never favored repeal of the Civil Rights Act, and challenged Stephanopoulos to “bring me on with Senator (Robert) Byrd, and we’ll talk about how he filibustered the Civil Rights Act. . .”

Paul did an outstanding job here handling the hostile press. It was a mistake for him to go on a show like Rachel Maddow, because he should have known that would be a total ambush. But he made a very nice recovery here'

I saw this too. Unfuckingbelievable - but actually entirely believable. The left will have a field day with this because their greatest foe is the Tea Party movement. They're doing everything they can with their loudest mouthpieces, a washed up sports announcer, a pissed off comedian and a butch dike, to paint the movement as racists. HAHAHAHAHA. The only people that believe them are the threatened because the Tea Party is starting to make a huge impact, and will continue to do so until the fools are out of office.

And this goes for republicans too.

If you are going to claim that someone is unfairly being tagged a racist, I would recommend that you don't in turn use derogatory, homophobic, terms like dike. This only shows that you are similarly insensitive; therefor, calling the kettle black.

With that said...the Maddow interview was in no way condemning, she was fair and professional. The fallout; however, was/is ridiculous. I agree with everyone in this thread when they say that the media has taken this too far. I am sick, sick, sick, of the media focusing on one thing and hashing it out over and over, day after day, it is such a transparent tactic. I think we can all agree on one thing, American media is a fucked up institution with only about 10% truth trickling out of its money stuffed mouth.

On the topic of Rand Paul...
There are so many controversial things this man has proclaimed he stands for that I could go on for days disseminating them all, but this thread is focusing on his views about the civil rights act so I will stick to that.

As liberal as I am, I am still a pragmatic man, and I agree with Mr. Paul in so much as private business should be free to discriminate as they see fit. I feel, as Mr. Paul does, that every business owner has the right to run their business as they see fit. In no way shape or form does this make Rand Paul, or me, for that matter, a racist, it just means that we believe in individual rights.

If Rand being overly attacked for this single issue? Most definitely, but I have to say that he has brought it on him self. In all his interviews he has failed to do one thing, stand firmly on his beliefs. All he has to do is say yes, yes I feel that private business should have the right to discriminate! For some reason he is unable to do that, so for that he is disingenuous.
