Ok, so here's a bit of wiki info that I could find on the Mars orbiter which has a series of sensors on it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars_Reconnaissance_Orbiter#HiRISE_.28camera.29
The sensor that encompasses the bulk of the image is the HiRISE.

Here's the NASA site for the Mars orbiter mission.

Here's the spec sheet for the HiRISE sensor. Here's where I'm a bit fuzzy on their specs...Not sure if band 1 is blue/green, then band 2 is red, and band 3 is NIR...this would mean that it would have to be a false colour composite because band 1 would go thru 1 colour, band 2 another, and band 3 another colour...RGB...if y'all get what I mean.

Anyhow...impressive bit of technology I must say. I want one!!!

Sorry, I forgot to post this too.

This is the CCRS (Canadian Center for Remote Sensing) website...their tutorial part. Now everyone can learn the basics of image interpretation and how the whole remote sensing thing works. There is a ton of extremely useful information here on the subject...have fun with it :D

Check this out, from what i can tell this is a full map of all the HIRISE images (at least what is available for the public to view) the ones i opened where zoomable to 50 meters. This is "Very Cool" Thanks Ames Research center and of course NASA.. :flop:

Use the zoomable Mars map or the menu to select an image to explore in full-resolution
